Summoning the Seneschal: From Bits to Tabletop ready

Hey guys, Jesse here!

Over the week I started on working on my backlog of models I want to play and paint. The technique I used to paint my Corswain kitbash is one I learned from my good friend and co-host Will, find him over at @medusonforged on IG!

The finished piece first, as is internet tradition.

We have only a few pieces of art here and there that depict Corswain, but this is the latest from the digital card game (and one I knew I could achieve with my bits box!)

Here’s the parts list:
Helm and DA shoulder pad: Deathwing Companions kit
Chest and legs: 40K Dark Angel vet kit
Arms and hands: Blood Angels praetor in power armor
Shoulder pad with pelt: Wolves space knights shoulder pad by Spellcrow
The Blade: Dark Angel Cenobites kit
Knee bits: various 3D printed stuff I found online.
And a spare mk2/3 power pack on hand.

For this scheme, I applied a black undercoat of Citadel Chaos Black, and heavily dry-brushed Grey Seer. Then comes the wild part: almost all the other paints you use will be from the Contrast Line.

Skeleton Horde for fabric,
Snakebite Leather for gold trim,
Balliscanum Grey for black armor,
Apothecary White for winged helm metal,
Dark Angels Green for The Blade,
Flesh Tearers Red for the crimson pieces.
Apothecary White, with Agrax wash for the Champion’s Mantle pelt.

Add a little dry-brushed Grey seer to areas you want to stand out, and that’s it! No, really!

This was a blast to Paint, and I love the results that come out of a half-hour. Time is extremely valuable to me these days, and I was happy to learn a method that will not scare me away from the painting table!

Until next time, Keep those dice rolling! -Jesse
